Al-Ettifaq could be ready to offer Mason Greenwood a lifeline after Manchester United confirmed the attacker would not be continuing at Old Trafford.

The English forward had been suspended by United pending an internal investigation back in January of 2022 but the forward has now, finally, been told that his future lies away from the Premier League side.

Well, according to The Sun, the Saudi Arabian side, managed by former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard could be ready to offer the forward a chance to play professional football again.

The report states that the Saudi side would be prepared to offer the 21-year-old forward £10 million a season for the Englishman to make the move to the Middle East.

Other Saudi clubs are also considering a move for the 21-year-old after United announced he’d be leaving, according to the same report from The Sun.

Greenwood competition

Not only would Gerrard’s side face competition from fellow Saudi sides for the forward’s signature but also clubs from Europe are also interested in the forward, too.

According to the report from the newspaper and indeed British radio station TalkSport, Jose Mourinho, former Manchester United boss who is currently at AS Roma, would be interested in trying to lure the forward to the Serie A before the window slams shut.

As well as Mourinho’s Roma, Turkish side Galatasaray are said to be interested in the forward, too. Al-Ettifaq have already broken the bank this summer to sign one Englishman in Jordan Henderson, who is believed to be earning around £700,000 a week according to the Daily Mail.

Greenwood could well be the dynamic forward that Gerrard’s side needs. The Saudi side have started the season well after winning their first two games of the season including a scalp against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in a 2-1 win.
